Our School SENDCo is Miss Melissa Stone
At Three Peaks we pride ourselves in supporting our pupils to be the best that they can be. We work hard to create an inclusive and encouragin environment whereby children are committed to achieving. We are in the centre of a supportive community and we celebrate the value that each child brings to the ethos of the school.
Three Peaks is a single storey building set in vast grounds. It is a place where children are supported to be independent and encouraged to achieve their full potential in a culture of being part of the Three Peaks Team.
At different times in their school career, a child or young person may have a special educational need. The Code of Practice defines SEND as:
“A child or young person has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them. A child of compulsory school age or a young person has a learning difficulty or disability if they:
a) have a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age: or
b) have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of educational facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools or mainstream post-16 institutions.”
If a learner is identified as having SEND, we will provide provision that is ‘additional to or different from’ the normal differentiated curriculum, intended to overcome the barrier to their learning.
We work in collaboration with parents, children, teachers, support staff and the school SENDCo to gather views, identify barriers to learning and put in place the appropriate support for the learner. For some leaners, we may want to seek advice from specialist teams and services to provide support, intervention and expertise. Examples of the various specialist teams include, but are not limited to:
Educational Psychologists
Specialist/Learning Advisory Teachers
Speech and Language Therapists
Occupational Health Therapists
