Welcome to Year 4! :)
Use this page to find out information about Year 4.
The teachers in Year 4 are currently Drake - Mr Hughes and Austen - Mrs Shelton-Smith/Mrs Lamb, and we are supported by Mrs Edgington and Mrs Read.
Invaders And Settlers
Our topic this term is titled 'Invaders and Settlers'! We are exploring the life of the Romans, Anglo Saxons and Vikings, learning everything from where they settled to how they went to the toilet and washed! Within science we will be learning about Living Things and their Habitats, plus animals including humans. We are also donning our artist's berets and discovering the uses of pastels and chalks.
Literacy lessons will be brought to life with 'How to Train your Dragon'. We will explore descriptive writing, sentence structure and use of powerful language to really make our stories come to life.
Our Maths is centred around the 4 operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, so that we can ensure these are solid before moving onto more tricky calculations. We are also continuing with the 99 club and Fluent in 5.
For our spelling we will continue to work through the Year 4 Read Write inc (RWI) spelling book.
We are aiming to ensure a love of reading for all children at Three Peaks.
Please ensure that your child reads everyday and that their reading record is signed. Rewards, mini prizes and treats, available for 10 signatures per week, plus bookmarks for 30 or 50 signatures.
