Local Governing Board

Three Peaks Primary Academy

Local Governing Board

2016 / 2017

The Local Governing Board of Three Peaks Primary Academy has a vital role in evaluating the school's performance and using this knowledge to challenge the school to understand its strengths and weaknesses and contribute to shaping its strategic direction.

The Local Governing Board of Three Peaks is fully committed to rigorously challenging the performance of the school and supporting its improvement. Our Local Governing Body is seeking to contribute to outstanding leadership and management of the school by being well informed and knowledgeable about the school's progress towards meeting agreed development targets.

To achieve this aim, governors attend school regularly visiting classrooms to observe learning and talking to teachers about their practise. Governors also attend work scrutiny meetings and discuss progress and attainment. They also attend school events and support on school visits.

The CET Scheme of Delegation clearly identifies the roles and responsibilities of the Local Governing Body and the Trust.  A brief outline is available by clicking here Scheme of delegation summary.pdf .      The more detailed Scheme of Delegation is available by clicking here.  CET-Scheme-of-Delegation-2016-17-final.pdf

Governor Profiles

Mr Paul Kealey

I have one son in school and one son who left a couple of years ago to move into High School, I have had links with the school since 2004 with both my boys going through the Baby & Toddler Group, Nursery, Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I became a governor in December 2010 and it is one of the best things that I have done. I feel that I am able to contribute to the goals that the school has to ensure every pupil is given the best possible education to inspire and release their full potential and I feel I can help in a small way by using the experience I have gained from my working as a Project Manager in the Financial services industry.

Mr James Dixon

I am married to Beata and we have three children at the school. We have lived in Tamworth since 2003. I am a barrister practising in various areas of law. My vision for the school is to enable staff and pupils to release and use their great potential and to see the school go from strength to strength, so that the children have the best possible start.

Mrs Caroline Davis

Caroline Davies is the mother of two girls.  Her eldest daughter has just left Three Peaks whilst her youngest is in Key Stage 2.  Caroline is the Link Governor for Mathematics and has supported the school in the implementation of a number of significant new Maths initiatives.  Throughout her time as a Governor, Caroline has championed the rights of the children to receive the highest possible quality of education.

Mrs Marta Ophide

I am a proud mum to two boys and a dedicated Junior Coach and Welfare Officer at Tamworth Volleyball Club. My aim as a governor is to make sure all children at our school are empowered each day to feel highly valuable, secure and happy.

Mrs Ann Langowski

I have been a governor at the school for many years since my daughter attended The Dales Infant School.  My aim has always been to ensure that the children who attend the school receive the highest possible standard of education.

Mr Philip Cantwell

Philip Cantwell in the Director of Education at The Creative Education Trust.  Philip Cantwell was Principal of Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton, which opened in September 2010. He joined the Creative Education Trust from the David Ross Education Trust as Director of Education at the beginning of the 2013/14 academic year.

Mr Richard Penn-Bourton

I have been Head Teacher at Three Peak Primary Academy since it opened on 1st December 2012.  Prior to that I was Head Teacher at Three Peaks Primary School and Deputy Head Teacher at The Dales Infant School.  Before moving to Tamworth I worked at two challenging Lower Schools in Northampton.  Throughout my career, I have worked for the Local Authority as a member of the Key Stage 1 Assessment Moderation Team and as Lead Literacy Teacher, supporting teachers from schools across Staffordshire in developing the teaching of writing.  My aim is to constantly improve the quality of teaching at Three Peaks so that the children achieve high standards.

Mrs Elaine Blaby

Elaine Blaby is the Pupil Support Manager at Three Peaks and has worked in different roles at the school for many years.  Her current role requires to work across all year groups and with a wide range of external agencies.  Her role primarily revolves around breaking down the barriers that many children face when learning and attending school.

Mrs Angela Pickering

Angela Pickering joined the teaching staff at Three Peaks Primary Academy in September 2015.  Previously she taught another primary academy in Tamworth and is currently teaching in Year 1.  Angela shares the school's aim to raise standards and ensure that the academy provides it's pupils with the highest quality learning experiences and teaching.

Committees and Sub-Committees

The LGB of Three Peaks took the decision that they work more effectively as a single, close knit group and would therefore work more effectively as a single governing board.  Therefore, there are no separate committees or sub-committees.
